Wendell "Doodle" Potts, 78, of 6261 Sutherlin Lane, Utica, died Friday, October 2, 2009 at his home. He was born in Daviess County to the late George Thomas and Ella (Hazelrigg) Potts. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and a retired machinist from General Electric. He was also a cabinet maker. He was a 50 year member and past Master of Ensor Masonic Lodge # 729 F&AM, Past District Deputy Grand Master of District 7 F&AM of Kentucky and Past Patron of Goel #104 OES of Kentucky, District 7. He was a member of Masonville United Methodist Church, and a volunteer for the Daniel Pitino Center.
Two brothers also preceded him in death, Kenneth and Bill Potts.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 50 years, Barbara Gray Potts, his children; Lisa Cole of Owensboro, Tim (Terra) Potts of Pleasant Ridge, Gail (David) Turner of Richmond, KY., and Craig (Rita) Potts of Owensboro, eleven grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, sisters; Myrtle Tinius and Ann Potts of Owensboro, and brothers; Robert (Pat) Potts of Owensboro, and Harold Potts of Michigan.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Greg Wingo officiating. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. with Masonic Rites at 7:00 p.m., and after 10 a.m. Tuesday until the funeral. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice Association Of Ohio Valley Inc.
