W.E. Hamilton

September 6, 1924 — October 30, 2015

After a strong fight, W.E. "Bill" Hamilton, 91, of Owensboro passed away Friday, October 30, 2015 under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky.

We celebrate his consistent Christian commitment and focus as he worked for God's kingdom each and every day. We will also celebrate the Christian family legacy he leaves behind. We hope you will join our family in this celebration. Dad "Papaw", we know you are in a much better place with Jesus and we look forward to joining you there someday.

Bill was born in Houston, Texas to the late David W. and Elsie Lee Hamilton. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and retired from Exxon USA as a plant foreman after more than 32 years of service. During his time with Exxon he lived in Louisiana and Texas. Bill was a member of First Baptist Church in Owensboro .

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, David W. Hamilton, Jr. and Benney L. Hamilton.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Bettye R. Hamilton; a daughter, Barbara A. Hamilton Powell of Owensboro; sons, Blake E. Hamilton (Kala) of Georgetown, Texas and Mark D. Hamilton (Sandy) of Franklin, TN; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

In celebration of his life, a service will be held at 10 AM Monday, November 2 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Dr. Paul Strahan will officiate. Burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-5 PM at the funeral home.
