Wayne L. Catron

Wayne L. Catron, 66, of Owensboro, died Monday, May 18, 2015, at his residence. He was born in Daviess County to William Loyd Catron and Clara Brumley Catron Kihl. Wayne was a third generation oil field worker, served in the Marine Corp, and had worked construction building many houses. He was a member of Owensboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he was ordained as an Elder on January 4, 1987, he volunteered at both the Pitino Shelter and the Helping Hands Kitchen, and was a master at fixing anything. Wayne could be stubborn but was easily bribed with brownies and ice cream. His life revolved around family and church and he enjoyed every moment spent with his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, William Loyd Catron and by his sister, Cathy Mizelle.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Jan Catron; daughter, Jenny Coomes and her husband Dr. Jack Coomes of Owensboro; son, Aaron Catron and his wife Amy of Hendersonville, TN; grandchildren, Dessi, Mazie, Alex and Jana Coomes and Nate and Miles Catron; great-grandchild, Kamari Coomes; his mother, Clara Catron Kihl; brothers, Jeff Catron (Mary) and Chris Catron (Donna); and sister, Michele Adkins.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, stories and sharing memories will be at 7:30 p.m., visitation will continue on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Owensboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
