Wavie Clovis Basham

Wavie Clovis Basham, 94, of 9423 Hwy 662, Maceo, died Sunday, November 28, 2004, at Hillcrest Healthcare Center. He was born August 24, 1910, to the late W.D. and Victoria Lane Basham in Hancock County. Clovis was a member of Yelvington Baptist Church, a Navy veteran of WW II, and worked in the oil business. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and he liked being around and talking to people. He especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Mae Basham, who died February 14, 2002.

Survivors include one son, Yewell Basham of Maceo; one daughter, Bonnie Hite and her husband William of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Sheila Houchins and her husband Jeff, Donna Westerfield and her husband Keith, Terri Bailey and her husband Kevin, Barry Basham and his wife Denise, Scott Hite and his wife Patty; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, at Glenn Funeral Home, with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday, and after 11:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home.
