Ward O. Pedley Sr.

Ward Oniace Pedley Sr., 88, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday January 20, 2024, surrounded by his family, while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born May 10, 1935, to the late Harry J. and Bertha Carter Pedley. Ward began his career in the late 50’s operating a DX service Station, grading yards, excavating, and starting a concrete business. Ward Pedley Concrete was in business for over 60 years during which time he expanded his endeavors by starting Ward Pedley Builders, in operation for the past 22 years, was co-developer of seven different subdivisions, and was the owner of Pedley Storage and Rental Properties. He served on the Owensboro Metropolitan Board of Adjustments for over 20 years, the Owensboro Metropolitan Planning Commission for 9 years, the Owensboro Public Improvement Committee, was a member of the Owensboro Home Builders Association, served on the Owensboro Home Builders Board of Directors, and was conferred the Title of Director Emeritus. 

Hobbies during his early years were Micro Midget Racing at the local tracks and across the country and later spent a few years racing Mini-Stocks at the Pleasant Ridge dirt track. He was also a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, the love of his life, Mildred (Minnie) June Pedley in 2017; a daughter, Darlene Conkright in 2019; and siblings, Lela Mae, Johnny, Harry Jr., Marvin, and Charles. 

Ward is survived by his sons, Ronnie Pedley (Kristie) and Ward Pedley, Jr (Diana) ; a daughter, Lisa Pedley Millay, all of Owensboro; grandchildren, Kelly Day (Jeff), Kyle Pedley, Ward “Trey” Pedley III (Erica), Grant Pedley (Bethany), Sean Pedley (Kara Kulpinski), Todd Millay (Cecilia), and Katie Prow (Dennis); great grandchildren, Savannah Crabtree, Trayce Millay, Carley Millay, Wells Pedley, Harrison Pedley, and Poppy Gray Pedley; and his other siblings, Gale, Bobby, and Janie.

The funeral mass for Mr. Pedley will be 10 a.m. Friday January 26, 2024, at Blessed Mother Catholic Church, with Father Mike Clark officiating. Burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 2 until 7 p.m., with prayers at 6 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, and also on Friday from 8:30 a.m. until time of Mass at Blessed Mother Catholic Church.
