Wanda Mae Sweeney

Wanda Mae Sweeney, 90, of Owensboro, passed away June 30, 2024. She was born Feb. 14, 1934, in Owensboro. Wanda retired from Walmart where she worked as a retail associate. She was a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed listening to gospel music. Wanda also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching Western shows, word search puzzles, and loved caring for animals.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Martin Sweeney, Sr.; son, John Martin Sweeney Jr. and daughter, Cindy Johnson.She is survived by her caretaker, Amanda Light-Small, four grandchildren, and a host of friends.

A graveside service will be held in Christ Chapel at Owensboro Memorial Gardens at 9 a.m. Friday.Care by Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
