Wanda Romans Smith, 81, of Owensboro went to be with the Jesus, Saturday, Janaury 10, 2009 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born August 30, 1927 in Armington, Tazwell County, IL, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Opal Lorene Romans; was a member of Karns Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years; and was retired from General Electric and MPD. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James "J.T." Smith in 2008; three brothers, Robert Newton Romans, Henry Duane Romans, and Harold Wayne Romans; and a daughter-in-law, Suglenda Smith.
She is survived by a son, Phillip Smith of Hawesville; daughters, Deby (Larry) Hall of Owensboro and Evon (Bill) Boswell of Lewisport; a brother, Charles (Jane) Romans of Morgantown; sisters, Velma (Clifford) Phelps and Maude Rena (James) Collier both of Louisville; grandchildren, Jason Smith, Brad (Tonya) Smith, Jared Smith, Casey (Amanda) Hall, Tabitha (Gordon) Davis, and Shannon (Brad) Humphrey; and great-grandchildren, Ethan and Hunter Smith, Mackenzie and Trent Davis, and a soon to be Baby Humphrey.
Services will be 12 noon, Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Salem Baptist Church in Logansport, KY with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and after 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.
