Wanda Mae Meserve Lanham, 87, joined her sweetheart Diddle in heaven on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, surrounded by her family at her home. A lifelong Knottsville resident, Wanda was the firstborn of 12 children to Emmett and Cecilia Harley Meserve and was the definition of a hard worker throughout her life as a sister, wife, mother, “Mamaw”, friend, and most importantly, daughter of Our Heavenly Father. Diddle and Wanda prayed the Rosary each night before sleep and Wanda continued this ritual with family since his death in 2019. She presented her cherished children beautiful quilts to celebrate marriages or births of new babies and loved to cook a good meal to bring the family around for any gathering and a general good time. In addition to her parents and husband, John “Diddle” Lanham, Wanda was preceded in death by her brothers, Bill, Jake, Jerry, Larry, Wavy, and Bobby Meserve, a son, Johnny, and grandson, Carl.
Survivors include daughter, Sharon (Richard) Russelburg; five sons, Tony (Sandy), Kenny (Debbie), David, Eddie “Tater” (Janet), and Pat; a brother, Boonie (Rosemary) Meserve, sisters, Katie Christian, Clara (Dick) Johnson, Linny (Alan) Howard, and Murty (Carl) Hagan; 19 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews including a very close niece, Jerrie Lynn Stone, and sisters-in-law, Frances Meserve and Barbara Meserve.
The funeral Mass will be 2 PM Sunday, January 28, at St. William Catholic Church in Knottsville. Burial will follow in St. William Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 PM until 7 PM Saturday with prayers at 6 PM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and will continue again from 11 AM until 1 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Williams-St. Lawrence Catholic Church Building Fund, c/o St. Williams, 9525 Highway 144, Philpot, KY 42366. Messages and condolences to the family can be shared at www.glenncares.com.
