Wanda Lee "Lelo" Hufnagel passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 in the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was 91. Born in Owensboro, she graduated from Owensboro High School. She worked as a ticket seller at The Strand Theatre, where she met her husband Jack. She later worked at KenRad, and McAtte's. Wanda retired after 30 years as the bookkeeper for Childers Florist. Her life was centered on her family, her friends, and the travels she enjoyed with them. She particularly enjoyed traveling south to the coast where it never rained while she was there. Wanda was a perpetual optimist who enjoyed reading and her cats. She was charter member of The Parish of the Immaculate. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Ina Jackson Wahl, her sister Jean Lindow, her brother David Wahl, and her sister-in-law Shirley Wahl.
Mrs. Hufnagel is survived by John "Jack" Hufnagel, her husband of 69 years; her children John Hufnagel (Nancy), Ann Payne (Kenny); her brothers Bob Wahl and Dr. Gary Wahl (Linda); her sister Suzanne Blandford (Bill); her grandchildren Teresa Campbell (Jonathan) and Marilyn Crump (Mark); her great grandchildren Brandon Fischer, Amanda Jarvis, and Lindsey Hudson; her great-great-grandchildren Cayden Roper, Ryleigh Owen, Brystal Hudson, Karmen Hudson, and Willow Jarvis; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hufnagel's family is deeply grateful for the genuine care provided by the staff of The Heartford House.
The funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Tony Jones, will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 12:00 noon Wednesday. Private burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Hospice of Western Kentucky.
