Wanda Mae Ferguson

Wanda Mae Ferguson, 86, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Maple Health and Rehabilitation. She was born August 5, 1938, to the late Alferd and Loeva Williams. Wanda retired after 25 years as a janitor with the Daviess County School Systems. She was an active member of church, where she found solace and joy in praising the Lord. Her faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her actions and interactions with others. She was a loving mother and grandmother, consistently putting her family first. The cherished memories of family gatherings, laughter, and shared meals will remain etched in the hearts of her family. Wanda's passion for nurturing extended to her garden, where she proudly showcased her green thumb, demonstrating her ability to make anything grow. She found great pleasure in tending to her flowers, delighting in their beauty and the happiness they brought to her home.

In addition to her parents, Wanda is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Durwood Ferguson; two sons, Darrell and Ronnie Ferguson; and four sisters, Lois Williams, Loretta Williams, Dorothy Raley, and Emma Cecil. 

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Cathy Maddox (Monty) and Loretta McGrath; son, Terry Ferguson (Sandy); daughter-in-law, Shelly Ferguson; brother, Kenneth Williams; as well as 10 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. 

The funeral service for Wanda will be 2PM Tuesday, September 24, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Monday from 2 PM until 7 PM and Tuesday 10 AM until 2 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
