Wanda Galbreath Sumner Butler, 83, of Owensboro, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Owensboro Center. She was born September 12, 1929 in Johnson City, IL to the late William and Ida Roth Galbreath. Wanda married the late Stoy Franklin Butler in 1962. She was a homemaker who loved her children, grandchildren, antiques and yard sales.
Wanda was also preceded in death by a son, Robert William Sumner; a daughter, Brenda J Sumner and a grandchild, Joseph F. Lestage.
She is survived by her children, Patricia (Ceaser) Duarte of Hartford; Layton E. (Beverly) Sumner and Michael E. Sumner all of Central City; grandchildren, Richard Sumner, Charlotte Engler, Rhonda Engler, Lisa Borboa, Michael C. Sumner, Robert Sumner Jr., Tracy, Randy and Tony Vansickle, and Paul Michael Sapp; seventeen great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be missed always by all of those who loved her in return.
Services will be held Friday at 2:30 PM at Glenn Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Ray Peach presiding. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 8 PM and Friday after 9 AM at the funeral home.
Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
