Wanda Louise Baker

Wanda Louise Baker, 71, of Old Kentucky Highway 54, Philpot, died Friday, August 6, 2010 at her home. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Her father, James W. McCarthy preceded her in death.

Surviving is her husband of 54 years, Jay W. Baker, a son, Victor (Sandy) Baker of Philpot, a daughter Varoncia ''Ronnie'' (Mike) Durbin of Haubstadt, IN., her mother, Beulah McClain of Owensboro, grandchildren, Victor J. Baker II and Thomas Baker both of Philpot, Meredith (Derek) Sumner and Lindsey Durbin of Owensboro, and Jarrod Durbin of Haubstadt, IN., a great-grandson, Lleyton Michael Sumner, a beloved sister, Betty Ann Baker of Owensboro, two brothers, James Earl (Ruby) McCarthy of Owensboro, and Donald Leon McCarthy of Rockport, IN., and special sisters-in-law, Paula Ratliff and Wanda Faye Baker. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Wanda and Jay had a lifelong love and enjoyed many things together. She loved being with her children and family and playing rummy with her grandchildren. Wanda was a talented artist and loved to paint. She loved the sun and spending time at the beach. She touched the lives of everyone she met. She will be deeply missed by her husband, children and family.

Funeral services for Mrs. Baker will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 9, 2010 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, with Rev. Barry Rager officiating. Burial will follow in Redhill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Mitchell Memorial Cancer Center or Hospice of Western Kentucky. Online condolences may be left at www.glennfuneralhome.com.
