Walter James Rowe

Walter J. "Jim" Rowe, 81 of Owensboro, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2012 at the University of Louisville Hospital. He was born on September 14, 1930 in Daviess Co to the late Walter and Juanita B. Ward Rowe. He was retired from Green River Steel after 32 years and also served as a Union Steward with the Steelworkers Union Local #4959. He was a member of Belton (Ky.) Pentecostal Church and was a past member for many years of the Maceo Baptist Church. Jim enjoyed fishing, vegetable gardening, playing cards, and listening to Christian music. He was a 1949 graduate of Owensboro High School after serving his country in the U. S. Army from 1947 until 1949. He was also preceded in death by his wife Janice Rowe in 2001 and a sister, Lora Anthony.

He is survived by his children, Greg Rowe and Tony (Pam) Rowe, all of Owensboro, Steve (Sara) Rowe of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and Joy (James) Hagan of Mt. Washington, Ky., their mother, Geneva Rowe of Owensboro, stepchildren, Jimmy (Youlanda) Campbell of Rumsey, Terry (Jenny) Campbell of Owensboro, and Connie (Jerry) Bennett of Beech Grove, three grandchildren, Ashley Rowe of Bowling Green, Mark (Samantha) Rowe of Hawesville, and Matt Rowe of Owensboro, 10 stepgrandchildren, 16 step great grandchildren, a dear friend, June Burke of Owensboro, numerous nieces and nephews including Terry (Becky) McDaniel of S. Carrolton and Tracy Savage of Columbus, OH.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 6, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with entombment following at Owensboro memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Monday and after 12 Noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
