Walter Lee Eidson

Walter Lee "Bud" Eidson Jr., 87, of Owensboro, passed away November 14, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. Born February 13, 1930, in Evansville, IN, to the late Walter Lee Eidson Sr. and Nancy Catherine Peck Eidson, Bud was raised in Indianapolis where he graduated from Ben Davis High School and then spent two years at Butler University before being drafted to the Army. During his time in college, he played semi-pro football for the Cardinals. While in the Army, he served in the Corps of Engineers. Bud also was awarded three bronze stars for his service in the Korean War.

After being honorably discharged from the Army, he met the girl who he would fall in love with and marry on October 17, 1954, Patricia Berry. And for the next 63 years, they worked together to create a loving home for themselves, their children, and their grandchildren.

Bud was a Christian and made sure to be a positive influence on everyone's life that he met. He was also a man's man, intelligent, artistic and humble. Bud always had an open-door policy and was full of life. He was the life of the party, making sure everyone had a good time. Bud also enjoyed golfing, bowling and at one time served as the President of Lakewood Country Club in Rockport and also was a board member at Windridge Country Club in Owensboro.

Throughout his life, Bud spent time in the music industry with Herman Enterprise, Decca Records and Capital Records. Later, he worked at and eventually became the Vice President of Lloyd's Mechanical Erection.

Bud is preceded in death by his sister, Katie Mae Natalie and brother, Jerry Gene Eidson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Patricia Berry Eidson; daughters, Vickey Dame (Larry), Dawn Johnson (Jackie), Renee White (Tommy), Jackie Horn (Mike); grandchildren, T.J. White, Ashley Abraham (Joe), Bridget Foster (Jake), Amber Johnson (Fiance, Christopher McFarland), Bradley Dame and Hannah Horn; great grandchildren, Guiliana Abraham, Jackson Abraham, Joseph Abraham and Aubrey Foster; brother, Charles Edward Eidson and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association.
