Walter E. Knott

Walter Knott, 84, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 27, surrounded by his loving family. Born to the late Proctor and Mary Florence Knott on September 29, 1939, he was one of their twelve children. Walter grew up in Browns Valley, graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School in 1957, and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy. He worked in banking and spent many years at Modern Supply Company. During retirement he worked as a part-time courier for Owensboro Independence Bank. Walter was a handyman, he enjoyed working in his yard and playing golf. Above all, Walter enjoyed spending quality time with his family. 

In addition to his parents, Walter is preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Ann Knott; sisters, Angela Knott, Marilyn Cavalier, Roberta Knott, and Sister Mary Louise Knott; brothers, Paul Knott, Martin Knott, and Charles Knott.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 57 years, Margaret Knott; children, Brian Knott and Francie Tierney (John); sisters, Alma Gaw, Rosita Libs, Kathleen Boldrick, and Dottie Elder; grandchildren, Mark Tierney, Molly Tierney, Bradley Horn, and Natalie Clark; great-grandchildren, Jackson Horn, Connor Horn, Ivan Clark, and Lila Clark.

The funeral service for Walter will be 12pm Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes. Visitation will be from 10am until time of service at the church. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Catholic Church Cemetery.
