Wallace I. Papaw Peck Johnson, 78, of Owensboro passed away Saturday, April 9, 2005 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born on April 22, 1926 in Eureka, IN, Mr. Johnson was the son of the late William Eugene and Madge Levi Johnson. He was a member of the Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Mr. Johnson was a retired home improvement salesman and the former owner of Pecks Bargain Barn. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II earning two Purple Hearts. He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and UK Basketball and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by a brother and 5 sisters.

Survivors include three sons, Wally (and Julie) Johnson, Tommy (and Sherry) Johnson, and Danny (and Dawn) Johnson all of Owensboro; four daughters, Sally (and Marty) Cravens, Cindy (and Johnny) Rightmyer, Marsha (and Clint) Terry, and Libby (and Kirk) Griggs all of Owensboro; his former wife of 37 years, Betty Jo Johnson of Owensboro; 23 grandchildren, Jason Terry, Cassie Stelmach, Kristy Ebelhar, Misty Durbin, Shawn Johnson, Nathan Johnson, Adam Johnson, Zachary Johnson, Chelsey Johnson, Chase Johnson, Justin Rightmyer, Travis Rightmyer, Lauren Johnson, Austin Johnson, Lainey Johnson, Ryan Cravens, Logan Cravens, Josh Cravens, Leah Beth Cravens, Megan Griggs, Corey Griggs and Christopher Griggs all of Owensboro and Amie Chaney of Franklin, KY; 11 great-grandchildren with another to be born in May; two brothers, Bill (and Eileen) Johnson of Richland, IN and Wilford ( and Katherine) Johnson of Calhoun; and three sisters, Vivian Oldham of Boonville, Idabell (and Robert) Stevens of Owensboro, and Wilma (and Joe) Hamilton of Utica; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 12 noon Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with burial in Resurrection Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post 696. Visitation will be from 3-8 P.M. on Monday and after 9 A.M. on Tuesday. Prayers will be at the funeral home at 6 P.M. on Monday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Blessed Mother Building Fund.
