Wade H. Muncy, Jr., 89, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2017. Mr. Muncy was born in Daviess County, KY, grew up in Dermont and graduated from Daviess County High School. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he served as a Staff Sergeant with the 38th Ordinance Battalion from 1950 – 1952. He retired from the Owensboro Board of Education following 38 years of employment. Mr. Muncy was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church for 83 years. In his youth he was named an All-American athlete and boxed in Golden Gloves. A man of many facets, Mr. Muncy was a farmer as well as a humble yet accomplished artist, having won a Daviess County fair blue ribbon for his painting. His wife, Joyce Main Muncy, his parents Wade Hampton Muncy, Sr. and Esta Jane Prince Muncy, and his sisters, Sophia Ann Muncy and Violet Roberts preceded him in death.
Left to remember Mr. Muncy are his son, Vincent Wade Muncy; his grandchildren Esta Rose, Michelle Schwartz, Kristine Muncy, Ashley Muncy and James Wade Muncy; his great-grandchildren Ember Jane Rose, Blake Schwartz, Kaydence Kulka, and Brady Kulka, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mr. Muncy will be 12:00 p.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 10:00 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the memorial fund of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
