W. Frankie Wade

Frankie Wade, 97, of Owensboro, passed away December 13, 2006 at Wooldridge Place Nursing Home in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born in McHenry, Ohio County, on September 6, 1909 to the late Phocian and Mollie Chapman Wade. While residing in Owensboro, he was a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church. Mr. Wade was a retired operating engineer of Local 181 for over 40 years and he helped construct many of the railroads and much of the Interstate Highway System in Kentucky. His work took him all over the state and he lived in most of the major cities in Kentucky before retiring to Owensboro in 1974. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking; he was also an avid baseball and basketball fan and was a great basketball player in McHenry during high school.

In addition to his parents, those preceding him in death include his wife, Versa Aileen Porter Wade; his brother, Leonard Wade; and his sister, Era Case.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Col (Ret.) Jerry F. and Charmaine Wade of Corpus Christi, TX, his grandchildren and their spouses, Cathy and Howard Minter of Myaaka City, FL, Nancy and Gary Wildt of Erlinger, KY, Diane and Marc Stern of Alpharetta, GA, Jerry F. Wade Jr. of Corpus Christi, TX, and Michael and Jennifer Wade of Corpus Christi, TX, his great-grandchildren, Rachel and Sara Minter, Allison and Aaron Wildt, Marc and Libby Platau, Kyle Stern, and Payten and Sumaya Wade, his sisters and brother-in-law, Stella Faith and Vera and Earl Powell, all of Owensboro, his niece, Peggy Wade of Owensboro, and his nephews, Hugh Lynn Wade of Owensboro, Steve Wade of Bowling Green, and John Case of Charlotte, NC.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 18, 2006 at the Chapel of Peace in Rosehill Cemetery with Rev. William S. Roberts officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.
