W. R. Doyal

W.R. Doyal, 92, formerly of Owensboro, KY. , died at 4:00pm Tuesday, June 21, 2006, in Murray-Calloway County Hospital, Murray, KY.

Born in Hancock County, KY, a son of the late William R. and Allie Clark Doyal, he was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Owensboro, and a member of Third Baptist Church of Owensboro. Mr. Doyal was active in support of the Owensboro community by service as Chairman of the Advisory Council of Senior Companion and Grandparenting Programs, past president and board member of Senior Citizens, a charter member of the Federal Employees Credit Union, past president of the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 234, a board member of the former Spastic Home and School, having been involved with its Postmans Walk program, as well as his involvement in library, museum, and arts programs. Following his retirement, his interests included furthering his education through college coursework and extensive travel through his association with the Friendship Force and the Elder Hostel program, having visited 18 countries, many of them more than once. He was a member of Third Baptist Church and the Baraca Sunday school class


Mr. Doyal is survived by two daughters, Gail Catherine Kaliloa and her husband Larry of Honolulu, HI, and Mary Elizabeth Usher and her husband Dick of Fairdealing, KY; one granddaughter, Letitia Usher of Louisville, KY; two grandsons, Bronson Kaliloa and his wife Casey of Honolulu, HI, and Keone Kaliloa of Seattle, WA; one great-grandson, Jonah Kaliloa of Seattle, WA; one brother, Drexel Doyal of Livingston, AL and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ivy Kaliloa, and four sisters, and three brothers

Services will be at 2:30 pm Saturday, June 24, 2006, at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro, KY, with Dr. David Parrish and Dr. J.T. Parrish officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hawesville, KY.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Third Baptist Church, Billy Graham Ministries, or Church World Service.
