Vena Ann Mayfield

Vena Ann Mayfield, 88, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2026 at Wellington Parc. She was born June 28, 1938 in Daviess County to the late Neizer and Roberta Russellburg Westerfield. Vena was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral and was retired from Mid-American Jet in Owensboro. She was one of nine children and enjoyed gardening and was an avid U.K. basketball fan. Vena was a very quiet person with a great personality, great sense of humor and she enjoyed a good laugh. She loved spending time with her family.

Vena was also preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, David Mayfield, and siblings, Jesse Daugherty, John Westerfield, Jim Westerfield, Margaret Jones, and Dean Richards.

Surviving are her children, Kelly Carr and husband Glenn and son Brian Mayfield, all of Owensboro; siblings, Linda Hoskins, Sue Westerfield, and Dot Roberts; and several nieces and nephews.

Private visitation will be held at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory to be followed by a mass at St. Stephen Cathedral and burial at Resurrection Cemetery.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Wellington Parc for all the love and compassionate care they gave Vena while she was there.
