Vivian Marie Ambrose DeJarnette, 86, of Owensboro passed away Monday, December 18, 2017 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born in Habit, KY on July 12, 1931 to Golda Mae and Rollie Ambrose, the youngest of seven children. A graduate of Daviess County High School, she had a number of jobs in the course of her life including Guenther Hardware Store, Texas Gas, and Mel's Music. Vivian purchased the piano and band instrument business in 1988 and renamed it DJ's Music. There she continued to work as a bookkeeper until she closed the shop and retired in 1988. She was married to the late Marvin Newman DeJarnette, whom she wed July 23, 1955 until his passing in 2003. Vivian was also a member of Masonville Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her brother, James Ambrose; her sisters, Lou Anna Williams, Mabel Ambrose, and Maude Chapman
Survivors include her son, Jason DeJarnette of Owensboro; her granddaughter, Sydney Love Hale-DeJarnette; her sisters, Susie Cook and Melba Salmon; a host of nieces and nephews
The service will be 12 noon Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery. Rev. Kimbrough Simmons will officiate. Visitation will be 4-8PM Tuesday and 11AM until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Masonville Baptist Church.
