Virginia Woosley Weakley

September 20, 1923 — July 6, 2014

Virginia Woosley Weakley, 90, of Owensboro, went to be with the Lord on July 6, 2014. She was born in Hopkinsville on September 20, 1923 to the late Belvie and Vastie Hack Woolsey. She was a homemaker who was an accomplished seamstress, gardener, and cook. Virginia was a long time member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church and served by teaching in both Sunday and Bible School. She taught her children the importance of building a strong faith in Christ and the importance of giving and serving the Lord.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 66 years, James Weakley; and sisters, Viva Lindsey, Vera Bryan, and Vernell Jordon

She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Thompson (James) of Maceo, Phyllis Buskill (Michael) of Philpot; sister, Belvie Nell Glenn of Trenton, KY; brother, Bobby Woosley of Fayetteville, AK; grandchildren, Jameson Thompson (Tracy), Kelly Adams (Rocky), Robin Nantz (Chris), Travis Thompson, and Chris Buskill (Tera); and 10 great grandchildren.


Visitation will be from 4 until 8pm on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. At Virginia's request, services will be private. Entombment will take place at Owensboro Memorial Gardens
