Virginia Nell Wallace

Virginia Nell Wallace, 87, of Owensboro, died Monday, January 2, 2017 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born in Muhlenberg County to the late Clyde and Virgie Mae Latham Wood. Virginia was a homemaker who was gifted in both quilting and crocheting. She was a good Christian lady, devout in her faith with a love of gospel music. Family was everything to Virginia, and she found her greatest joy with her family. Never one to shy away from hard work, she loved working on the farm, stripping and setting tobacco, caring for animals and tending the gardens. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward B. Wallace; son, Edward Theo Wallace and sister, Laura Corley.

Survivors include her children, Larry Wallace and his wife Rose of Longs, SC, Russ Wallace and his wife Carol of Merritt Island, FL, Anthony Wallace and his wife Betty, Martha Lott, Anita Ivey and her husband Tony all of Owensboro and Patty Stewart of Hawesville; brothers, David Wood and his wife Candy of Clarksville, IN and Harvey Wood of Dawson Springs; sister, Lula Scarbrough and her husband RB of Dunmor; 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Sorgho Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 2 pm until 8 pm on Thursday and after 9 am on Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in Sorgho Baptist Church Cemetery.
