Virginia N. Thompson

July 17, 1916 — November 22, 2003

Mrs. Virginia N. Jenny Thompson, 87, of 1640 Griffith Avenue, died Saturday, November 22, 2003, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born in Crofton, KY, a daughter of the late William A. and Lola Durham Nichols. A member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church, Mrs. Thompson was also a member of the Womens Guild, a former member of the Owensboro Symphony Auxiliary, had been active in the Salvation Armys Christmas Express, and for many years was instrumental in The Hanging of the Greens at Settle Memorial, She enjoyed her friends, her family, flowers, golf, tennis, and University of Kentucky basketball. Her husband, William H. Thompson, preceded her in death in 1998.

Survivors include her son, Tommy Thompson of Philpot, two daughters, Teena Thompson Barber and Cindy Thompson Martin, both of Owensboro, 7 grandchildren, Albert William Bill Barber, III of Owensboro, Brian A. Martin of Germantown, TN, Mary Molly Martin of Louisville, Nick Thompson, Jenny Louise Martin, and Wes Thompson of Lexington, and Hunter Thompson of Owensboro, 3 great-grandchildren, Ashton Martin, Morgan Martin, and Tanner Martin, all of Germantown; a sister, Carolyn Ross of Hopkinsville; and several nieces and nephews

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Settle Memorial United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 3 until 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Christ Chapel Mausoleum at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Stained Glass Window Fund at Settle Memorial United Methodist Church, or Brescia University
