Virginia Alesa Terry, 93, of Owensboro, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at The Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born November 10, 1913 to the late Paul Franklin and Alesa Limp Stutzman in Reading, PA. Mrs. Terry was of the Presbyterian faith, a retired school teacher, a Kentucky Colonel, a former Girl Scout Leader, Church Deacon, and a member of the Western Kentucky University Golden Anniversary Club. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, china painting, and flower gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James G. Terry, her sister, Pauline Stutzman McTarsney, and her brother, Leroy Franklin Stutzman.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Jerry McCandless of Owensboro, her son and daughter-in-law, Robert Wesley and Kathy Terry of Parrish, FL, her grandchildren, Amy Phillips of Lansing, MI, James C. McCandless of Rogers, KY, Robert Wesley McCandless of Boardman, Ohio, Alicia McCandless Decker of Owensboro, and Mark Irby of Owensboro, her niece, Alesa Diane Glaizer of Lakeland, FL, and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Petersburg, IN with Jerry McCandless officiating. Visitation will be Friday, March 9 at Glenn Funeral Home from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Evansville, Indiana.
