Virginia Carson Statom

December 2, 1928 — March 7, 2004

Virginia Carson Statom, 75, of 5867 Wayne Bridge Road, Owensboro, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2004, at her home. She was born in Ohio Co., Ky. and was a member of the New Heights Baptist Church in Louisville, Ky. Shw was retired as a stenographer and Bookkeeper for the Sinking Fund with the City of Louisville after more than 16 years. She had lived in Louisville for 42 years before moving to Owensboro in 1991. She also was a member of the Ft. Hartford Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and loved raising flowers, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Earl Statom on Dec. 24, 2002.
Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Kenneth Rafferty of Owensboro, a son and daughter-in-law, Mark Alan and Deborah Statom of LaVergne, Tn., 4 grandchildren, Andrew Rafferty of Kanazawa, Japan, Adam Luke Rafferty of Owensboro, Shelby Taylor Statom and Lauren Virginia Statom, both of LaVergne, Tn., 2 sisters, Florence Smith of Hartford, Ky., Mittie Ann Carson of Owensboro, and 2 brothers, James G. Carson of Hartford, and John S. Carson of Beaver Dam, and 3 nieces and 1 nephew.
Services will be at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 11 at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 5664 Highway 56, Owensboro, Ky. 42301.
