Virginia Libs Mattingly Lane

Virginia Libs Mattingly Lane, 95, of Owensboro, died Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at Hillcrest Health Care Center. Born in Daviess County on September 18, 1909 to the late Frank and Harriett Alvey Libs, Mrs. Lane was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church and was retired from the S.W. Anderson Department Store where she was the cosmetics buyer for 20 years. She was a charter member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Owensboro and was Girl of the Year in 1963. Mrs. Lane lived in Ft . Lauderdale, FL for several years and was the Garden Club Woman of the Year in 1988. Mrs. Lane was preceded in death by husbands, William A. Mattingly in 1969 and Kenneth Lane in 1994 and a brother, Francis Libs in 1992.

Surviving is a brother and sister-in-law, William E. and Wanda Libs of Owensboro; a sister-in-law, Jane T. Libs of Owensboro; nephews and their spouses, Wallace and Sally Libs of Lewisburg, TN, Stirman and Sue Libs, Mike and Betty Libs, and William Francis and Connie Libs all of Owensboro, Phillip and Karylu Libs of Atlanta, GA and nieces and their spouses, Harriett and Terry Weber of Wheeling, WV, Liz and John Froehlich, Patricia and David Jones, and Rebecca Everly all of Owensboro.

Funeral services are 1:30 P.M. Saturday, February 12, 2005 at Immaculate Catholic Church with burial in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 P.M. on Friday and after 10 A.M.on Saturday. Prayers and Remembrances will be shared at 7 P.M. on Friday.
