Virginia “Ginny” L. Holt, 69, of Evansville passed away Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, at her home surrounded by those she loved. She was under the tender care of Heart-to-Heart Hospice. The Covington native was born March 1, 1957, to the late William E. Ryle and Martha Jones Ryle. Ginny graduated from Shelby County High School with the class of 1975. She dedicated her career to serving others through her work with the Kentucky Drug Court system, where she made a meaningful impact in the lives of many. Often driving her Honda Fit all over the state she so proudly loved.
Outside of her work, Ginny found great joy in gardening, growing impressive zinnias on her block, and creating crafts, often sharing her talents and creations with those she cared about and offering them at the “Goats and Stuff” stand during the Franklin Street Bazaar in the summer of 2022. A generous and empathic soul, Ginny guided and supported those she loved in a truly genuine way. Ginny was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, and friend whose presence brought warmth and joy to those around her.
Ginny was preceded in death by her dad, William “Bill” Ryle in 2020. Those left to cherish her memory include her loving children, Maddy Holt (Trevor Carl) of Louisville and John Casey (Ali Dicks) of Evansville; mother, Martha Ryle; brother, Bill Ryle Jr.(Sheila) and Gary Ryle (Birsen); sister, Peggy Ryle-Reed; niece, Danielle Ryle (Justin Stogner).
Ginny had a special gift for making people smile. She made her children smile, despite being gone, when they began going through her photo albums and realizing that she kept every single picture Maddy took of her cats for 20 years! Whether through a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or her quiet strength, Ginny left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her love for her family and her ability to bring light into the lives of others will be remembered always.
The funeral service for Ginny Holt will be noon, Thursday, April 9 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with same day visitation from 10:00 until 11:30 am. Burial will be in the Burlington Cemetery in Burlington, KY on Friday at 1:00 pm (EDT).
