Virginia Lois Cooper, 78, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2016 at her home. She was born June 24, 1937 in Daviess Co. to the late Robert Bluford and Dona Alice Jenkins Moore. Virginia was a member of Southside Fellowship Church, was retired from Fields Packing Co. after 27 years, and was a Kentucky Colonel. She also had worked at the former Gabes Tower for 10 years and at Swan Cleaners for 12 years. She had volunteered at the Help Office in their "Clothes Closet", and enjoyed flower gardening, quilting, helping people, and walking in the parks with her dog Spike. She also loved spending time with her family, the outdoors, traveling, going to the horse races, and watching U. K. basketball. Virginia was also preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lee Cooper on May 23, 2007 and a brother, Bobby Moore.
Surviving are three daughters, Kathleen Cox and husband John of Owensboro, Doris Brinegar and husband Jeff of Bloomington, IN, and Rita Higdon and husband Tommy of Owensboro, six granddaughters, Angela, Michelle, Jamie, Tabitha, Virginia, and Anna, 11 great grandchildren, a brother, Finis Earl "Doodle" Moore and wife Dorothy of Owensboro, and a sister, Joyce Smith of Owensboro.
Services will be Noon Monday, June 27, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.
