Virginia V. Bowles

Virginia V. Bowles, 91, of Owensboro, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 23, 2013 at Kindred-Hillcrest Healthcare Center. She was born in Evan's Landing, Indiana to the late John H. and Mildred Yeats Voelker.

In 1986 Virginia retired from Texas Gas where she had served as an executive secretary. As a longtime member of St. John United Methodist Church, she was part of the XYZ Club and played the piano for more than 50 years. Virginia was a member of the Dulcimer Society, and for 20 years the residents of Fern Terra nursing home enjoyed her weekly visits to play the piano. She also enjoyed knitting and playing scrabble. Virginia was a kind and strong Christian woman who will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by a brother, John L. Voelker.

Virginia is survived by sons, David L. Bowles (Camelia) of Bowling Green, KY and John A. Bowles (Marisol) of Panama; grandchildren, Scott D. Bowles (Tracy), Joshua A. Bowles (Abi), Alalesa M. Huffman (Danny), Patrick L. Bowles (Julie) and Rachel E. Bowles; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, December 28 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Peggy Smith will officiate. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery. The visitation will be from 4 until 8 PM on Friday and after 9 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
