Mr. Virgil C. King, Jr., 79, of 2415 Ford Avenue, Owensboro, died 4:15 P.M. Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was a native of Fulton, Ky., born to Virgil C. and LaMera House King, Sr., on May 23, 1923. He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church, Kentucky Pharmaceutical Association, past member of Daviess County Pharmaceutical Association, Navy veteran of WW II and a member of USS Twining Reunion. He enjoyed reading, listening to music, photography, traveling, gardening and spending time at church, with friends and his family.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Virgil Clifton Halley who died May 18, 1999; also seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mary King, twin sons, Gary King of Owensboro and Cary King of Decatur,GA; two daughters and son-in-laws, Susan and Ron Lindsey of Owensboro and Kathy and Clifton Halley of Reynolds Station. Two grandchildren, Heather Hatley of Austin, TX, and Samuel King of McDonough, GA. Several nieces including Evelyn J. Davis of Redlands, CA, Becky Brock of Panama City, FL, and Tami Neel of Owensboro.
Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home, visitation will be from 2:00 till 8:00 P.M.Friday and after 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens, with Military honors.
