Virgil Boling, 84, of Pleasant Ridge, passed away Monday, August 13, 2007 at Bon Harbor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born April 16, 1923 in Hancock County, he was the son of the late Ivy and Birdie Powers Boling; a retired self-employed contractor and Perdue chicken grower; and member of the First Church of God in Pleasant Ridge. He enjoyed raising and trading quarter horses, gardening, cooking, farming, UK basketball, and most importantly spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lynn Boling and grandsons, Christopher Boling and Timothy Boling.
Mr. Boling is survived by his wife of 63 years, Hazel Howard Boling; a son, Gene (and Charlene) Boling of Hartford; and daughters, Carolyn (and W.R.) Worthington of Panther, Katie (and Steve) Spurrier of Maceo, and Darlene Barnett of Owensboro; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lucille Isle of Montana.
Services are 2 P.M. Thursday, August 16, 2007 at Glenn Funeral Home with Bro. J. Harold Harness officiating followed by burial in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Wednesday and after 9 A.M. on Thursday.
