Violet "Vi" D. Walker Flener, 93, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016 at Signature Healthcare---Hillcrest. She was born July 19, 1922, in Central City to the late Clarence G. and Eunice Mae Jones Walker. Vi was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Owensboro Senior High School and had been a longtime member of the Eastern Star Acacia Chapter #46. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, flower gardening, and spending time with her family. Many people will remember Vi for her friendly smile. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Denver Flener on May 26, 2002, two sisters, Zella Smith and Wilda Wahl and two brothers, Ray and Belcher Walker.
Surviving are her sons, Dennis Edward Flener and fiancé JoAnn Bivins of Evansville, IN and Donald Ray Flener and wife Kerry of Sublimity, OR, her daughter, Debbie June Hudson and husband Bruce of Owensboro, 11 grandchildren, Alison Dawn Flener, Justin Flener and wife Jessica, Jody Anne Johnson and husband Bob, Chad Lee Payne and wife Elissa, John Casey Fisher and wife Megan, Mathew Flener Fisher and companion Emily Zuerner, Micah, Andrea, and Aaron Nasarow, Brandy Clark and husband Bobby, and Destin Hudson, several great and great great grandchildren, three sisters, Avanell Moseley, Gwen Morton, and Frieda Winkler, and two brothers, Bradley Walker and Bobby Walker.
Services will be Noon Thursday, March 31, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
