Violet Alford, 88, of Gilbertsville, KY, formerly of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014 at Spring Creek Health Care Center in Murray, KY. She was born on October 12, 1925 in Henderson Co., KY to the late James and Hattie Graves Reid. She was a homemaker, but had worked at Glenmore Distillary and Kentucky Electronics and was of the Methodist faith. Violet enjoyed fishing, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marvin H. Alford on September 9, 1989 and a son, Rev. James O. Alford on March 5, 2005.
Surviving are a son, Robert "Bob" Alford and wife Linda of Gilbertsville, four grandchildren, Jeff Alford of Louisville, Melanie (Brad) Mills of Knottsville, Scott (Dana) Alford of Bartlett, TN, and Mark (Cristina) Alford of Mt. Juliet, TN, 11 great grandchildren, and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Alford of Mt. Juliet, TN.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 28, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Unity Cemetery in Muhlenburg Co. Visitation will be after 10:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.
