Vincent "Vince" Allen Millay

Vincent Allen Millay, 76, of Owensboro, passed into his eternal rest on April 13, 2024. He was born August 12, 1947, in Owensboro, as 1 of 8 children to the late Robert and Margaret Jones Millay. He was a graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School. Vince is now reunited with his princess, who he had been married to for 54 years, the late Doris Ann Basham Millay. 

Vince enlisted and served in the USMC during Vietnam where he achieved the rank of Corporal. He was also a machine gunner, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines and 1st Division, earning 2 purple hearts. After his service he was employed at Green River Steel and retired from Lanham Electric. Vince was an active member and Eucharistic Minister of St. Pius X Catholic Church. 

He loved to go to Lima 3/7 reunions with his wife Doris Ann. He loved sitting in his sunroom watching birds with his camera, was an avid fisherman, studied genealogy, woodworking anything that anyone wanted, especially for his princess, Doris Ann, and gathering in the sunroom with his family and enjoying each other’s presence together. 

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years; Doris Ann Basham Millay; a daughter, Sherry Ann Millay Hurst; and siblings, Timmy and DiAnn Millay.

Those left behind to honor his memory includes a daughter, Christie (Shannon) Millay McMahan; his grandchildren, Chace (Emily) Clements, Ethan Clements, Cortney Hurst, and Bailey Hurst; his great-grandchildren, Tinslee Clements, Lilly Clements, Odin Clements, Trevor Roberts, and Staley Clements, to be born in a few months; siblings, Paula Millay, Gary (Stephanie) Millay, Ricky (Shannon) Millay of Owensboro, Elaine (Jud) Payne of Gatlinburg, TN, and Cathy (Glen) Stover of Evansville; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. 

The funeral Mass will be held at noon on Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held from 2 pm until 6 pm Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, with prayers beginning at 6 pm, and on Friday from 10 am until time of Mass at the church.
