Vincent J. Ebelhar

Vincent J. Ebelhar, 97, of Owensboro passed away Saturday, July 8, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Daviess County and was a son of Peter J. and Clara Catherine Weber Ebelhar. He was an innovative farmer who by felling trees and clearing land created farms where none had been. Mr. Ebelhar was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church and had been active in the Dairymen's Association and the Knights of Columbus. With his wife Mary Pheobe, he was a square dancer and a world traveler. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Pheobe Riney Ebelhar to whom he was married for 73 years, his daughters Judith Marie Ebelhar and Tina Ebelhar Dixon, three grandsons Keith Ebelhar Jonathon Hughes, Ted Ebelhar, and his brothers Dennis Ebelhar and Maurice Ebelhar, and his sisters Lorena Stephen and
Margaret Reisz.

Mr. Ebelhar is survived by his six sons Joe Ebelhar (Arlene) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, John Ebelhar (Mary Ann), Phil Ebelhar (Cathy), Danny Ebelhar (Sharon), Jeff Ebelhar (Margie), and Tony Ebelhar (Julie), all of Owensboro; his daughters Suzanne Roberts (Harold) of Indianapolis, IN and Lisa Hughes (Steve) of Nashville, TN; a son-in-law Brad Dixon of Frackville, PA; 30 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren; his brother Kenneth Ebelhar and his sister Clara Marie Gilles, both of Owensboro.

The funeral Mass for Mr. Ebelhar will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where prayers will be said at 1:30 Monday, and after 8:30 Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church Building Fund or Hospice of Western Kentucky.
