Vila Jane Smeathers

Vila Jane Pat Smeathers, 77, of One Park Place, 2701 Frederica Street, Owensboro, died Wednesday, October 31, 2001 at Owensboro Mercy Health System. She was born September 30, 1924 in Lenrue (Harlan Co.), Kentucky the daughter of the late Beedy Gill & Mary Boggs Patterson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harmon Dudley Smeathers in 1993.

She was a housewife and a member of First Baptist Church. She was a member of Younger Womens Club for 18 years and Mid-Day Homemakers.

Survivors include two sons, Anthony D. Smeathers of Fountian Valley, CA and Rodney Wayne Smeathers of Owensboro; one daughter, Sylvia Marie Monde of Sales Creek, TN; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six brothers, Virgil Patterson of St. Petersburg, FL, Hubert Patterson of Owensboro; Homer, Linville and Herman Patterson of Indianapolis, IN and Hansford Patterson of Appleton, WI; five sisters, Elaine Abbott of Pasco, WA, Helen Giangrosso of Orlando, FL, Lola Truit of New Castle, IN and Linda Suiter and Lois Ann Wells both of London, KY; and several nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 4, 2001 at Glenn Funeral Home, officiated by Odell Beauchamp. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Her family will receive friends at Glenn Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2001 and after 12:00 p.m. Sunday.
