Vida May Arbuckle, 78, of Owensboro, passed away May 5, 2016 while in the care of Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville. Born April 9, 1938 in Jackson County, IL to the late Clarence D. and Golda Hebener Smith, Vida cherished her church family at Calhoun Christian Church. She loved to sing classic gospel songs and hymns, enjoyed camping and had a special fascination for owls. Vida was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Melvin; sisters, Lora June Carrell, Eva Ann Sorrels, and special friend, Jim Pate.
She is survived by son, Douglas Alan King and his wife Tina; daughters, Terecia Arbuckle and her fiancé Michael Horton, Daniellia Johnson and her husband Mike all of Owensboro, Marilyn Gardener of Bowling Green; step-son, Samuel Arbuckle of Carbondale, IL; grandchildren, Scott Gardener, Willie Gardener, Aaron Arbuckle, Tiffani Arbuckle, Dalton Bowden, Audria Norton, Kierra Johnson, Zach Everly, Benjamin Everly, Sarah Everly, Junior Willis, Erica King, Chloe Horton, and Spencer Arbuckle; great-grandchildren, Addi Everly and Devyn Smith.
A celebration of life will be held at the home of Daniellia and Mike Johnson. Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
