Victor Wathen

Victor Wathen, 76, of 3426 Chickasaw Drive, Owensboro, died Saturday, May 18, 2002 at his home. He was born in Daviess County on May 28, 1925 the son of Samuel and Alberta Speaks Wathen.

Mr. Wathen retired from Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 633. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a veteran of World War II and enjoyed University of Kentucky basketball and NASCAR.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mildred Wathen; a son, Jimmie V. Wathen of Owensboro; two daughters, Judy Walters of Louisville and Melissa Sloan of Owensboro; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, officiated by Father John Meredith. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2002 and after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 6:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301.
