Vernon Earl Mcmahan

May 1, 1930 — November 5, 2003

Vernon Earl McMahan, Sr. 73, of Masonville, died Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. The Hartford native retired from the Owensboro Fire Department in 1992 serving 32 years in the department and was a commercial truck driver. He was a faithful member of the Masonville Baptist Church where he was a deacon and member of the choir and the Class of Steven Sunday School Class. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and loved NASCAR, fishing, and UK basketball. Mr. McMahan was an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Hattie Jane Preston McMahan; two sons, Vernon E. McMahan, Jr. of Masonville and Larry ( and Sheila) McMahan of Owensboro; two daughters, Karen (and Dr. Randy) King and Tina McMahan of Owensboro; 10 grandchildren; one brother, Donnie McMahan of Utica; four sisters, Mary Celia, Dorothy Nuckols, and Bonnie Snyder all of Owensboro, and Shirley Young of Lewisport; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 11 A.M. Saturday at the Masonville Baptist Church with burial in the Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home and after 10 A.M. Saturday at the church.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Masonville Baptist Church.
