Verna Lou Canary

Verna Lou Canary, 53, of Owensboro passed away Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Daviess County on July 26, 1957, she was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church and worked at Hydro Aluminum. Mrs. Canary enjoyed playing cards, caring for others, and, especially, spending time with and caring for her family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Basham Moses, her father, Jackie Shercliff, and a sister, Gayle Skaggs.

Surviving are a son, Michael Dockery of Owensboro; a step-son Troy Canary and his fiancee' Jamie; grandchildren, Jaxson Wade Huskisson, Ethan Michael Bell, and Colbi Glover-Canary; brothers, Ray Skaggs and Charles Skaggs, Jr. of Portland, TN; and a sister, Evelyn Hines of Portland, TN.

Services are 12 p.m. on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Brother Tim Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3-8 pm. on Tuesday, January 25 and after 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
