Tyler Douglas Barnard

The world lost a beautiful soul on Saturday, October 20 when Tyler Douglas Barnard, 21, of Maceo passed away at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Tyler was born June 25, 1997 in Daviess County to Patricia L. Chism. He had attended DCHS and was employed by VC Tires.
Tyler was preceded in death by his beloved grandfather, Thomas Gaston, in 2014 that came to Owensboro specifically to make sure Tyler had the family and support system to "grow just right". Thomas married Elizabeth "Maggie" Gaston of Concord, N. Carolina who was a gentle, loving, and supportive grandmother throughout Tyler's life. He loved his grandparents beyond words.
Those left to cherish his memory and who continue to share his gifts include his mother, Patricia "Patty" Chism of Maceo; his "sissy", Lauren Elizabeth Bailey (Damon) and nephew Sebastian Thomas of Wingo, Kentucky; aunt, Pam Gaston of Louisville; uncles, Tom Gaston Jr. (Elizabeth) of San Francisco, California and Ted Gaston (Mary) of St. Joseph, Missouri; half-sister, Crystal Lindsey and nephew Jacob of Owenboro; and several cousins scattered across the United States.
Tyler was a wise soul from his youngest years who could make friends and charm adults with great ease. His world was full of "adopted" families who are feeling this loss with much love. His heart was truly kind and he used his quick wit and charm to raise the spirits of anyone he felt might need a smile. He fiercely supported his friends and showed empathy for anyone who was suffering. Tyler reached out to comfort so many without judgement.
To honor Tyler's wishes, there will be a celebration of his beautiful soul, talents, and uniqueness at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory on Sunday, October 28 from 2:00 till 4:00 pm. The family wishes to simply gather and share experiences and say goodbye with a balloon release at 4:00 pm.
