Truman D. Barnes, 89, of 2832 Tanglewood Dr., Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at his home. He was born on March 10, 1919 in Stantonville, Tenn. to the late Truman and Etta Mae Boshart Barnes and moved to Owensboro in 1959. He was retired from Texas Gas Transmission Corp. as an attorney and was a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He enjoyed playing tennis and golf, reading, working puzzles, and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rebecca Barnes, a daughter, Glenda Gerteisen and husband Bill, Jr. of Owensboro, two granddaughters, Jennifer Cunningham and husband Patrick of Georgetown, Ky. and Stefanie Gerteisen of Bowling Green.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 21, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow in the Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 8:30 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
