Tommy Chambers

Mr. Tommy R. Chambers age 79 of Owensboro, passed away on December 19, 2015 at his residence with his loving family by his side. Tommy was born on September 1, 1936 to the late Quince and Edith (McElroy) Chambers.

Tommy was a member of the Sorgho Baptist Church, he retired from Green Coal and Construction after 50 years and one month. Tommy enjoyed wood working and riding scooters with his buddies.

Tommy is preceded in death by his parents; one sister; 5 brothers; and 2 son-in-laws.

Tommy is survived by his beautiful wife of 58 years; Shelba (Land) Chambers, two daughters; Cindy Jackson of Jacksonville, FL, Reeca Chambers of Henderson, grandchildren; Joni (husband: Josh) Maret of St. Augustine, FL; Shandice Wells/White of Chandler, IN; Kirk Jackson of Jacksonville, FL; Cassie (husband: Joseph) Bishop of Owensboro, great grandchildren; Jackson Maret, Jace Maret, Kaleb White, Hunter White, Cambria White, Josh Bishop, Faith Bishop, Shelby Bishop, Lily Bishop, sister; Mary BeDell of Oaktown, IN; brothers; Quince Chambers Jr. of Henderson, Jim (wife: Ruth) Chambers of Henderson, Ralph (wife: Wanda) Chambers of Sebring, FL; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 12pm at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Bro. Jason Mayfield, and Bro. Larry Birkhead officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4pm – 8pm and Wednesday from 10am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
