Tomas N. Sprague, 73, of Owensboro, died Monday, May 11, 2009 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Anacostia, North East Washington, DC to the late Raymond and Ida Steum Sprague. Mr. Sprague was a member of Thruston United Methodist Church, where he served on the Pastor Parish Relations Committee and the nominating committee. He served in the Air Force from 1953 until 1957 when he was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He had taught Sunday school, was a youth leader, a Boy Scout Leader and the Bargaining Committee Chairman for Local 783. Mr. Sprague had worked as a technician at General Electric for 27 years before retiring from MPD after 11 years. He loved woodworking, gardening and traveling with his family and friends. He was preceded in death not only by his parents but his siblings, Helen Judeson, Mary Sprague, Frances Sprague, Jim Sprague and Jon Sprague.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Pat Hise Sprague; sons, Michael Sprague and his wife Juanita of Maceo and Donald Sprague of Owensboro; granddaughters, Mallory and Cora Jane Sprague of Maceo; sisters, Jane Selby of Hyattsville, Maryland and Alice Parker of Spotsylvania, Virginia; and a nephew and several nieces.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday and after 9 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Thruston United Methodist Church Building Fund.
