Tina Pearl Barker, 86, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday October 6, 2009 at Hillcrest Healthcare Center. She was born on June 7, 1923 in Knottsville to the late Willis Benjamine and Ida McDaniel Crowe. She was a homemaker, but early in her life, she worked at Owensboro-Daviess Co. Hospital in the dietary department as a cook and then was employed as a wrapper stretcher at the Cigar Factory. She enjoyed quilting and embroidering, raising a garden and working in her yard and flower gardens. Pearl had been a member of Pellville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School before moving to Owensboro and joining Hall St. Baptist Church where she currently was a member. Most of all, she was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Duncan in 2001 and a son-in-law, Harold Decker in 1996.
Surviving are her husband of 68 years, George S. Barker, three sons, George E. Barker and wife Ruth, Larry E. Barker and wife Sharon, and Virgil D. Barker and wife Sandy, all of Owensboro, three daughters, Brenda K. Duncan and husband Franklin of Reynolds Station, Linda F. Decker of Owensboro, and Sharon A. Wilson and husband David of Utica, 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, and a sister, Louise Champion of Arizona.
Services will be 12 Noon Friday, October 9, in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Greenbriar Baptist Church Cemetery in Utica. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday and after 10:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.
