Thomas William Wendt Sr., 73 of Roosevelt House, Owensboro died Monday, February 2, 2009 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in St. Louis, MO. to the late Russell F. and Helen (Noonan) Wendt. He was a retired supervisor for Professional Maintenance, and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He was a veteran of the Air Force. He was a sports fan, enjoyed playing golf, watching U.K and St. Louis Cardinals, NASCAR, and his favorite was attending his grandchildren's sports events.
His wife Leona preceded him in death in 2008, his son, Terry in 1992, and a grand daughter, Brittany Wendt in 1998.
Surviving are his children; Thomas Wendt of Nebraska, Tim (Diane) Wendt of Masonville, and Donna (Rob) Southard of Owensboro, grandchildren; Jake, Jared and Hunter Wendt, Sean and Daniel Southard, Josh and Demi Wendt, Cody Wendt, Katie (Chris) Jefferson, Jessie, Thomas and Tatum Wendt, nephews; Brian and Mark Bradley, and niece; Peggy Hull.
Funeral services will be held 12:05 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2009 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Brad Whistle Officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. with prayers at 7 p.m. and also after 9 a.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home. Interment will be in Resurrection cemetery at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice Association Inc. Memorial Fund.
