Thomas Melvin Thompson

Mr. Thomas Melvin Thompson, 80, of 418 Locust Court, Owensboro, died Sunday, February 20, 2005, at Leisure Years Nursing Home. He was born February 4, 1925, to the late Hayden C. and Kathleen Head Thompson in Daviess County. He was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church, a Navy Veteran of WW II, and a retired farmer. He enjoyed playing cards, was an avid reader and loved being with his family.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph H. and Richard V. Thompson.

Survivors include his wife of 57years, Louise Reisz Thompson; four sons, Dr. Gary Melvin Thompson and his wife, Candy of Stanton, KY, Stephen Joseph Thompson and his wife, Debbie, Paul Albert Thompson and his wife Gail, Dr. David Charles Thompson and his wife, Dr.Vicki Frey Thompson, all of Owensboro; one daughter, Cynthia Louise McLaughlin and her husband, Patrick of Boca Raton, FL; twelve grandchildren, Dr. Adam, and his wife, Amy, Justin and Seth Thompson; Dr. Valerie Warren and her husband Chris, Christina and Katie Thompson; Tristan Thompson; Taryn , Ryan and Alli Thompson; Andrew and Katherine McLaughlin; two great-grandchildren, Stephen and Hayden Warren; four brothers, Albert M. (Mike) Thompson and his wife, Cloa, Charles D. (Dan) and his wife, Martha, all of Owensboro, John A. (Jack) Thompson and his wife, Kay of Chattanooga, TN, S. Ray Norris and his wife, Bea of Chicago, IL; seven sisters, Florence Lovejoy, Geraldine Payne and her husband, Bill, Marilyn Osborne, and her husband, Wally, Beulah Herrell and her husband, Charles, all of Owensboro, Pallie Kurz and her husband, Paul, of Murray, KY, Clara Sue Downs of Hopkinsville, Peggy Steinsberger of Speedway, IN.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at St. Martin Catholic Church with burial in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 696. Visitation will be 2:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday with prayers at 7:00 PM at Glenn Funeral Home. Visitation will be after 9:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contrubutions may be made to the Disciples Response Fund, 600 Locust Street, Owensboro, Ky, 42301
