Thomas E. Prendergast

Thomas Eugene Prendergast, 90, of Owensboro, died Monday, August 13, 2012 at the Carmel Home. He was born in Casey, Illinois to the late John and Mary (Loftus) Prendergast who immigrated from County Mayo, Ireland. He graduated from St. George High School in Evanston, IL. and obtained a B.S. from Northwestern University. He married Mary Angela Baker Prendergast and lived in Oshkosh, WI, until moving to Owensboro in 1965. He was a self employed woodworking machinery sales Representative, for 44 years. He was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church, enjoyed golf when he was younger, was an avid sports fan, especially football, was a member of Immaculate Parish Men's Club, Forest Products Research Society, OCHS Gridiron Club and Woodworking Machinery Distributors Association.
His wife Mary Angela preceded him in death in 2003 as well as sisters, Peggy Little, Catherine and Tessie Prendergast, Patsy Hendricks, and a niece, Joan Little.
Surviving are his children: Lisa Prendergast of Owensboro, John (Sandy) Prendergast of Louisville, KY., Geri Prendergast -Jones of Owensboro, a sister; Ann (Ron) Brown of Des Plaines, IL, and grandchildren; Daniel Jones of Bryan, TX, Natalie Jones of Owensboro, and Sean and Tess Prendergast of Louisville.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 17, 2012 at Immaculate Catholic Church with Fr. Tony Jones officiating, and burial following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday with prayers at 6:00 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Carmel Home Building Fund or St. Vincent DePaul Society at Immaculate. Online condolences may be left at www.glennfuneralhome.com.
