Thomas Earl Powell

Mr. Thomas E. Powell, 89, of 1239 Castlewood Place, Owensboro, died Thursday, January 10, 2008 at his home. The Daviess County native was born March 16, 1918 to the late Athanasious Leo and Helena (Calhoun) Powell, and retired from General Electric after 40 years as an electrician. He was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church, and an Army veteran of WWII.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Ethel Tichenor, his twin sister, Florence Merle Lambert, and Lauritta Isabelle Lambert.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Vera Wade Powell, a sister, Elizabeth P. Matingly, and a brother, James Leo Powell, all of Owensboro, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2008 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with Fr. Freddie Byrd officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, January 13, 2008 from 12:30 to 6 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
